Kershaw leads Dodgers to 1-0 victory over Mets

Los Angeles’ southpaw outduels New York counterpart

 

LA Dodgers hats Los Angeles left-hander Clayton Kershaw scattered seven hits over eight stellar innings to help lift the Dodgers to a 1-0 victory the visiting New York Mets.

While Kershaw was holding the Mets off the board, New York starter R.A. Dickey was doing the same. He allowed just two hits over 5.2 innings of work.

The game remained scoreless through seven innings, but the Dodgers used an rbi double by Russell Martin in the eighth to get the game’s only run.

Luis Castillo went 2-for-4 to lead the Mets. They outhit the Dodgers 7-4, but were unable to push any runs across.

New York reliever Pedro Feliciano (2-5) was the tough luck loser.

No Dodger posted more than one hit in the game.

The win was Kershaw’s tenth victory of the season. He struck out just three batters, but walked only one.

Kenley Jansen worked a scoreless ninth to notch his first save.
