Dodgers Go Down In Series Finale to BrewersAll eyes were on the final game of the Dodger-Brewer series after Prince Fielder’s profanity filled tirade post game Tuesday. There were no fireworks, however, in the Wednesday’s game. Instead, the Dodgers lost both the game and series in a very quiet manner. Braden Looper was the polar opposite of Schmidt in the finale. Despite giving up a Rafael Furcal leadoff homerun, Looper was excellent the rest of the way. He went 6 2-3 innings, did not give up another run, and struck out four in route to his tenth victory. In his previous two starts, Looper had been hit hard giving up eleven runs in eleven innings pitched.
This was a huge win for Milwaukee. It not only keeps them in the NL Central and Wild Card hunt, but it is the first time the Brewers have won a series in over a month. This one coming against the team with the best record in baseball just makes it that much more important. Their last was against the lowly Mets. Los Angeles does not have much time to rest after their loss Wednesday. They have to take on the Braves Thursday in the first of a four game set that will stretch through Sunday. With a series win last week in Atlanta, Joe Torre’s team is hoping for continued success against the club this week at Dodger Stadium.
