Below is a list of the top 10 best Atlanta Braves players of All-Time, as determined by MLB Center Atlanta Braves Correspondant Ben Burrows

 

10. Andruw Jones ~ Jones has blasted 368 home runs in a Braves uniform while becoming arguably the greatest defensive outfielder of all-time. Jones had an amazing run of 10 consecutive Gold Gloves during his stay in Atlanta. His defensive excellence lands him at #10 on this list.



9. Dale Murphy ~ Murphy was a 7 time All-Star, 5 time Gold Glove winner, and 2 time MVP. He has 398 career home runs with 3 teams and 1,266 RBI. A lifetime .265 hitter, he played in over 2,100 games and scored just under 2,000 runs. His number 3 is one of 6 numbers to be retired by the Braves.

8. Chipper Jones ~ Jones is one of the greatest switch hitters of all-time with a career .310 average. He was a number 1 overall pick by the Braves in 1990. He is 3rd in Braves history with 408 home runs, 2nd in hits, and 3rd in RBI. He was the 1999 NL MVP winner and has been selected to the All-Star game 6 times. Chipper recently won the National League batting title with a .364 average.

7. Tom Glavine ~ He is 4th in Braves history in innings pitched with 3,408 and 4th in wins with 244. Glavine has 305 wins overall with 2 teams and 2,607 career strikeouts. He has started 682 career games, with 56 complete games and 25 shutouts. His outstanding career that includes 2 Cy Young awards land him at number 7.

6. John Smoltz ~ Smoltz is arguably the most popular pitcher the Braves have ever had. He has accumulated 210 wins as a starter and 154 saves as a closer. His career 3011 strikeouts are #1 on the all-time Braves’ list. His dominance as a starter and closer has earned him 1 Cy Young award and 8 All-Star selections.

5. Phil Niekro ~ Niekro had his number 35 retired by the Braves after a great career. He is 3rd on the Braves’ all-time wins list with 268. His 2,912 strikeouts and 44 shutouts are good for 2nd.

4. Greg Maddux ~ Maddux is the greatest defensive pitcher to ever play the game. His 18 Gold Gloves are proof of that. Maddux has won 194 of his 355 wins with the Braves. His 1,828 strikeouts are good for 5th on the Braves’ list while his 2.63 ERA also ranks 5th.

3. Eddie Matthews ~ Matthews is one of the greatest third baseman of all-time and number 1 in Braves history. He is the only player to play for the Braves while they were in Boston, Milwaukee, and Atlanta. Matthews is 2nd in Braves history with 493 home runs and 2nd in RBIs with 1,388. He was a 9 time All-Star and hit 30 home runs or more 10 times.

2. Warren Spahn ~ Spahn is the greatest pitcher in Braves history. He is number 1 in innings pitched with 5,046, wins with 356, shutouts with 63, and games started with 635. Spahn has his #21 retired by the Braves and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1973.



1. Hank Aaron ~ Hank Aaron is the greatest Brave of all-time and arguably the greatest player of all-time. He is number 1 on the Braves’ all-time list in home runs with 755, RBI with 2,202, at-bats with 11,628, games with 3,076, and total bases with 6,591. He was a 24 time All-Star and won the MVP in 1957. Hank Aaron is the greatest Brave of all-time.
