The Ohio Cup - Cleveland Indians vs. Cincinnati Reds
Originally a single game played in the preseason between Ohio's two Major League Baseball teams, the Cleveland Indians and the Cincinnati Reds, the Ohio Cup is now awarded to the winner of the season series between the Indians and Reds. Each season, the Inians and Reds play a single 3-game series, one in Cleveland and one in Cincinnati, with the winner of the six games holding the Ohio Cup for the year.
Entering the 2008 season, the Indians led the Reds 29-22 in head-to-head interleague play match-ups, but with Cincinnati taking 5 of 6 in 2008, the Reds now trail the Indians in the Ohio Cup series 30-27. The two teams began playing each other in interleague play duing the 1997 season. From 1997-2007, the Ohio Cup Series was often referred to the "Battle of Ohio."
